The Willink

Governors

Governors

Our priority is to ensure the students at The Willink receive a high quality, balanced education and the school supports them in developing their full academic and personal potential, equipping them to move into the next stage of their lives, whether that means college, university or work.

Our role is to support the school in managing the challenges of today whilst ensuring there is sustainable improvement for the future.   We do this in two main ways:

  • Firstly we ensure the school has a development plan with stretching targets for success and then we review progress to ensure the plan is achieved.  We do this by reviewing performance data, undertaking planned visits to the school to observe it in action and we meet with specific subject leaders across the school.
  • Secondly we use our experience, knowledge and energy to support how the school manages staff, finances and premises, whilst ensuring the focus is always about students’ development both within and outside the classroom.   Specific time is devoted to these key areas through work on committees.

As a governing body we regularly review our own performance and we are always looking for ways to improve what we do. Individually we commit to develop to ensure we are professional in our approach.ck here for meeting dates

It is important that we have depth and breadth of different professional and personal experience across the Governing body;  the main criteria for being a governor are energy and commitment.
