Key Stage 3 - Years 7, 8 and 9

Languages Milestone Assessment Schedule 2022/23

KS3 Course Information
Pupils study either French, Spanish or Mandarin in Year 7, 8 and 9.  In Year 8 and Year 9 students study French, Spanish or German as a second language. 

The topics studied at KS3 are Family, Home, School, Leisure activities, In and around town, Food and Drink, Body parts and Illnesses, Holidays, Environment and Daily routine.

KS3 Exam Information
Pupils sit Milestone Assessments at regular points throughout the year and are assessed on two of the four skills (listening, reading, speaking and writing) in their first language, and assessed on one skill in their second language.  

KS3 Expectations
Students are expected to engage in learning, be respectful of others and to work hard to achieve in lessons. 

Key Stage 4 (GCSE) - Years 10 and 11

KS4 Course Information
Every pupil studies at least one language at Key Stage 4.  If pupils select their second language as an option, they study two languages.

The themes studied at KS4 are:

KS4 Exam Information
There are 4 exams, each worth 25% of the final grade: listening, reading, writing and speaking. 

KS4 Expectations
Students are expected to apply themselves and work hard from day 1 of the course.
